An overview on the fundamental and emerging areas of green chemistry that will be essential to reach a more sustainable Industry will be provided. One of the aims of the upcoming Green Deal in Europe -that will eventually be embraced by other continents- is to move toward a “climate-neutral bloc” society by 2050. To reach this goal many different Industrial sectors will need to quickly advance toward a more sustainable approach including construction, biodiversity, energy, transport and food. In this view it is fundamental to develop a sustainable industry also based on the introduction of the Circular Economy Industrial policy. This also includes a ‘Sustainable products’ policy focusing not only on reducing the wastage of materials but also in ensuring products reuse and recycle.
